The Executive Presbytery of Assemblies of God, Ghana, has called on all its pastors, members and the wider Christian community to actively participate in the nationwide clean-up exercise scheduled for Friday, July 10 and Saturday, July 11, 2026.
In a statement issued on July 9, 2026, and signed by the General Secretary, Rev. Dr. Ernest Birikorang, the church expressed its deepest condolences to families who lost loved ones in the recent floods and sympathised with those whose homes and properties were destroyed.
According to the church, the devastating floods highlight the urgent need for stronger political commitment and practical measures to reduce the impact of flooding and protect lives and property across the country.
Assemblies of God, Ghana described the national clean-up exercise as an important opportunity for Ghanaians to demonstrate a renewed commitment to environmental sanitation and help prevent future flooding.
The church urged all its congregations, pastors, members and other faith-based organisations to join the exercise in their respective communities, stressing that caring for the environment is a shared responsibility.
It further noted that Christian faith should be reflected not only in personal devotion but also through actions that promote cleaner and healthier communities, adding that environmental cleanliness should become a daily habit rather than an occasional activity.
Quoting the biblical call to be examples to society, the statement encouraged Christians to demonstrate environmental stewardship through their actions, saying such good works would bring glory to God while contributing to national development.
The nationwide clean-up exercise forms part of efforts to improve sanitation and reduce the risk of flooding following the recent heavy rains that affected several communities across Ghana.
